The Hermit

The Hermit

The Hermit isn't running away from life.
He's stepping away from the noise.

There comes a point when you've heard enough opinions, read enough books, asked enough people what you should do next. Yet the answer still feels missing.

That's because some answers don't live outside you.
They wait in the quiet.

The Hermit reminds us that solitude and loneliness are not the same. Solitude is a conscious choice to reconnect with yourself. It's where scattered thoughts settle, emotions become clearer, and your own wisdom finally has room to speak.

This isn't about abandoning the world forever. It's about pausing long enough to remember who you are without everyone else's expectations.

The lantern he carries doesn't light the entire path.
It illuminates only the next few steps.
And that's enough.

Life rarely reveals the whole journey at once. It simply asks us to trust the light we have today.

Reflection

- Where in your life are you seeking answers from everyone except yourself?
- What would become clearer if you allowed yourself a little more silence?
- Are you avoiding solitude because you're afraid of what you might discover, or because you've forgotten how comforting your own company can be?

Sometimes, the wisest thing you can do isn't to search harder.
It's to become still enough for the answer to find you.

Most of us are uncomfortable with silence.

The moment life becomes quiet, we reach for our phone, switch on the TV, call someone, or keep ourselves busy. We have become so used to constant noise that silence feels unfamiliar.

The Hermit invites us to do the opposite.

Not because people are a problem, but because we sometimes lose ourselves in everyone else's opinions.

When was the last time you sat quietly with a cup of tea, without your phone, without music, without a conversation—just listening to your own thoughts?

The Hermit isn't asking you to disappear into the mountains or give up your family and responsibilities.
He's asking you to create small moments where your inner voice can be heard.

His lantern doesn't flood the whole road with light.
It simply lights the next step.
That's how life works.

We don't need to know what will happen five years from now. We only need enough clarity to take the next step with confidence. The next step reveals the one after that.

Sometimes the answers we seek aren't hidden.
They're just buried under constant distractions.

The Hermit reminds us that wisdom doesn't always come from learning more.
Sometimes it comes from becoming quiet enough to hear what we already know.

"The Hermit isn't someone who escapes the world. He returns to it—just a little wiser, a little calmer, and a little less influenced by the noise around him. Solitude isn't the destination. It's the place where you remember who you are before stepping back into life."

He stays away only as long as he needs to. Long enough to quiet the noise, untangle his thoughts, and remember what truly matters.

Then he comes back.
Because wisdom isn't meant to be collected like souvenirs.
It's meant to be lived. Shared. Passed on.
The Hermit's lantern isn't just for his own path. One day, it becomes a light for someone else's.

Maybe that's the real lesson of the Hermit.

Take the retreat when you need it.
But don't build a permanent home there.
Reflection is a phase not a place to get stuck in!
